Vaniqa - eflornithine 13.9% cream
Eflornithine Hydrocloride (Vaniqa) cream is the first prescription cream to be approved by the FDA for removing facial hair in females. It inhibits an enzyme involved in hair growth (ornithine decarboxylase (ODC)). In clinical trials a cream containing 13% Vaniqa (eflornithine hydrocloride) slowed down facial hair growth in up to 60% of women. It takes up to two months to see any improvement after you start treatment with Vaniqa and after you stop taking it hair growth returns to pretreatment levels within another two months. Its seems largely without side effects beyond mild skin irritation in some people.
For longer lasting hair removal you might want to consider IPL treatment. It takes a few treatments, but the results can be permanent.
