Why is cosmetic surgery so popular?
In 2004 there were an enormous number of cosmetic surgery proceedures performed on Americans. In fact this number rose by 44% to around 12 million operations annually.
This is because the results are becoming more predictable, and the surgery itself safer. Yet I have a feeling we have barely begun.
Cosmetic surgery is already beginning to broaden its horizons. Orlan, for instance, the French performance artist - considers surgery a form of art (which it is. Don't let the technical side convince you otherwise. All art has its technical side) and has the most bizarre things done to herself. The last I recall she intended to have her nose reshaped to that of a pig's snout.
The rest of us are not quite so daring. Yet. Well OK theres the Leopard Man in the UK with tattooed spots and implanted whiskers - but he doesn't look any stranger to me than the Big Hair Brigade.
One day soon I think it will be considered more peculiar to live your entire life off the peg. I'm all for a bit of surgical customization, being a modern girl.

Not having a face lift to cure facial hollows, nose to mouth lines or flattened cheekbones. Permanent filler would be a far better option.
Personally, if I was having a facelift, I wouldn't mess about. I'd go for a deep plane face lift. It does the job properly and looks entirely natural.
