The scientific evidence for face creams
Are you interested in whether or not the ingredients in your wrinkle cream are actually any good?
Lots of substances are commonly used in face creams. Sometimes there is the science to back it up, sometimes there isn't. On the right is a menu of face cream ingredients I have found scientific evidence for.
Please bear in mind that there are likely to be many anti-aging substances commonly used in traditional beauty treatments that have not even been tested yet. Unless the active ingredient is likely to be patentable, it is not in cosmetic companies' interests to bother.
Note this is also true of medicine in general!
For instance, for years cosmetics companies have included Vitamin A (Retinol etc.) and Vitamin C in their ingredients, long before there was any proof these things were actually any good. It turns out they are. Same for date palm oil and rosehip oil which were used as bases and probably did more good than the 'official' ingredients added to them.
Even cleopatra bathing in milk had a scientific validity. The lactic acid in milk has a mild peeling effect.
Check the ingredients listed in the menu to find out more about them, and how to find products containing them!
